We are seeking authors and reviewers
We are always happy to update pages when advised they may be out of date, and please tell us if you notice errors or omissions. Or perhaps you would like to translate a page into another language?
DermNet New Zealand authors have included many volunteers: dermatologists, dermatology trainees and medical students from New Zealand and elsewhere. If you would like to contribute, please contact us with your ideas. We also welcome expert topic reviewers. Our pages are up to 20 years old, and inevitably include inaccuracies and outdated information. Let us know your area of expertise.
DermNet NZ's style is plain English (British), using short paragraphs and bullet points rather than long lists. Your typical reader is a dermatology trainee, medical student, consultant in a hurry, or GP. But health-literate patients and school students are important groups to consider as well. Aim for Flesch Reading Ease Score >65.
Typical topic construction for a disease or condition (xxx) is as follows:
- Topic title xxx
- What is xxx?
- Who gets xxx?
- What causes xxx?
- What are the clinical features of xxx?
- How is xxx diagnosed?
- What is the treatment for xxx?
- What is the outcome for xxx?
- References. We prefer Vancouver style.
All new topics are peer reviewed by dermatologists or other experts as appropriate.
